Step 1. Exfoliate your skin.

To ensure the most even, radiant tan, remember to exfoliate the skin before applying self-tanner. Exfoliate entire body, paying close attention to "dry" areas like knees and elbows.

Step 2. Apply moisturizer.
Once skin is completly dry, prepare skin with a thin coat of body moisturizer to ensure a natural and smooth application. Remember that knees, feet and elbows tend to be dry areas of the body and can pick up too much color so it is important to pay close attention to these areas before self-tanning. Allow moisturizer to absorb prior to self-tanner.

Step 3. Apply self-tanner.
Start with legs and work your way up using circular motions to avoid streaks. Apply lightly to ankles, knees and elbows. For application to the face, apply self-tanner into the palms of hands and rub hands together and then apply to face, jaw and neck area. Apply lightly and blend into hairline, eyebrows and ear areas for an even, streak-free tan. Wash hands thoroughly and in between into hairline, eyebrows and ear area for an even, streak-free tan. Step 4. Apply distinct tan lines.
To avoid distinct tan lines, apply moisturizer to areas where you did not apply self-tanner such as your feet, top of the hands and backside. Then gently rub these areas into self-tanned areas for a natural blending of color.

Step 5. Dry off.
Allow skin to dry completely for 30 minutes to 1 hour before swimming, sweating or wearing tight clothing.

Step 6. Maintain your self-tan.
To deepen your tan, repeat the process the day after your first application with light exfoliation to maintain first layer of color. Once desired color is achieved, make sure to keep skin well moisturized to prolong color and keep skin looking radiant. Apply self-tanner once or twice a week to maintain color.
